I love “First in Math” – the school sent home a logon and after seeing it, I really think it can be helpful. It’s a gamified math trainer sort of online app. It’s not available on the AppStore or Android but it’s great from a tablet, PC, or touch screen.

Kids work to earn stickers so that they can earn different levels to change their badge and achieve various Awards in different categories.

I like the way there are challenges set for the kids and they can compete with one another without necessarily knowing who the others are with what amount of points. They also allow for an extra family account to be granted once the school student’s account reaches a certain threshold. This is great for sharing with the siblings!

It’s available for kids from Kindergarten to 8th Grade, so for kids from around the age of 4 through 14. It’s probably best starting around the age of 6 years for the concepts it starts with, but there are some more limited modules for the youngsters still in Kindergarten or 1st Grade.

It does say it’s aligned with the Common Core curriculum.

The philosophy behind the application is based on what has been called “DEEP PRACTICE”, where skills are repeatedly put in practice with immediate feedback in order to help strengthen the connections in the brain for this knowledge to be better retained and more quickly recalled.
